CONKRIGHT/CRONKRIGHT/CRONKHITE
Three CONKRIGHT/CRONKRIGHT/CRONKHITE brothers emigrated to the US in 1741 but one, Caspar, returned to Holland. James and Jacob supposedly settled in Ft. Edward but the date is unknown. Did they go there in 1741 or stay in the New York City area for a time before moving to Ft. Edward? They first show up in the VT census in Wallingford in 1800. Sometime between 1741-1800 they were in Ft. Edward but when? If they were Tories (as many Dutch were), did they have their land confiscated? They fought in the war and Jacob died at the Battle of Bennington but which side did they fight on? I have many questions and any answers would be appreciated! (Query posted 12/10/96) Eiichi Kamiya
