A copy of the Last Will and Testament of Ezekiel Samson Late of Cambridge Deceased recorded 3rd day of March 1812
 
In the name of God Amen – I Ezekiel Samson of Cambridge County of Washington and State of New York being weak in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory (or you may say thus) considering the uncertainty of this mortal life of sound mind do before our Almighty God for the same do make and publish this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say – First I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Mary the sum of three hundred and fifty dollars Two Cows and all her household furniture a [fine] pail kettle and the wool from the sheep this year – I do also give and bequeath unto my Eldest son Israel the sum of three hundred Eighty seven dollars – I also give and bequeath unto my second son Ezekiel the sum of five hundred and thirty seven Dollars whom I hereby appoint sole Executor of this my Last Will and Testament who is to pay out all the within written Legacies in the term of four years after my death with interest after one year  and take possession at my decease including the lease that is given for one year And I do also give and bequeath unto my two youngest sons Barzilla and Seth the sum of four hundred sixty two Dollars Each – I do also give and bequeath unto my Eldest Daughter Mary the sum of Forty Dollars – I do also give and bequeath to my three youngest Daughters the sum of Twenty dollars Each
 
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this third day of May in the year of our Lord one Thousand and Eight hundred and Eleven.

Be it remembered that on the third day of March one thousand Eight hundred and twelve personally came before me Isaac Sargent – Executor Surrogate of said County Obadiah Brown and of this witness to the preceding Will and Testament of Ezekiel Samson who being duly sworn saith that he saw the said Ezekiel Samson sign and seal the preceding instrument in writing purporting to be the Last Will and Testament of Ezekiel Samson bearing date the third day of May in the year one thousand Eight hundred and Eleven and did further hear the said Ezekiel Samson publish and did declare the same as and for his last will and testament and the same time he the said Ezekiel Samson was to the best of his knowledge and belief of sound and disposing mind and memory Aand [sic] that this [illegible] and name signed to the same was of his own proper hand writing which he subscribed as a witness in the presence of the Testator and in the presence of Daniel Woodard and David Wright the other two witnesses who he saw sign the same in the presence of the Testator and in the presence of Each other.  And be it also remembered that on the same day and year aforesaid came also Ezekiel Samson Executor in the said will named and was duly sworn to the [due] Execution and performance of this said will and testament by taking the oath as by law requires for Executors in such cases

To all to whom there present shall come and may concern send Greeting:
 
Know ye that at Fort Ann in the County of Washington on the third day of March instant before Isaac Sargent Executor surrogate of our said County the Last Will and Testament of Ezekiel Samson did and (a copy whereof is hereunto annexed) was proved, and is now approved and allowed of by us; And the said deceased having whilst he lived and at the time of his death goods, chattels or credit within this State by means whereof the proving and reporting the said Will and the granting administration of all and Singular the said goods, Chattels and credits and also the auditing, allowing and final discharging the amount there of doth belong unto us: the administration of all and Singular the goods, chattels and credits of the said deceased and any way concerning his will is granted unto Ezekiel Samson Executor in the said will named he being first duly sworn will and faithfully to administer the same and to make and Exhibit a true and perfect inventory of all and Singular the said goods chattels and credits, and also to render a just and true account thereof when thereunto required.  In Testimony whereof we have caused the Seal of office of our said surrogate to be hereunto affixed, witness Isaac Sargent, Executor surrogate of the said County at Fort Ann aforesaid the third day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twelve and of our Independence the thirty sixth
