Janet Beaty, Washington County, New York.

Written and signed July 12, 1825

Recorded August 31, 1825

 

In the name of God Amen.  I Janet Beaty widow of Thomas Beaty late of the Town of Salem in the ?County of Washington being mindfull of my mortality Do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner following ---- I give and bequeath unto my youngest son Thomas all the stock including both cattle and horses, and also all the farming Utensils including carriages and harness which were upon the farm at the death of my said husband.

 

I also give and bequeath unto my son Walter the Interest of four hundred dollars to be paid to him if called for annually by my Executor hereinafter named and if he should be so far reclaimed that in the opinion of my said Executor he would make a prudent use of the said four hundred dollars my said Executor is at Liberty to pay the same.

 

I also give and bequeath unto the children of my Son Alexander five hundred dollars that is to say one hundred dollars parcel of that sum to Thomas and the residue to be equally divided between the other children of the said Alexander born in Hebron.

 

I also give and bequeath unto the children of my daughter Sally by Joseph Livingston…that is to say one hundred dollars to Sally the wife of Mr. Barclay and all my household furniture and wearing apparel to be equally divided between the other children of the said Joseph Livingston by my said daughter except so much there of as is given to Maria the daughter of my son James and herein after given and bequeathed.    I also give and bequeath unto Maria the daughter of my said son James one bureau, one bed and curtains, one table, one wheel, six silver teaspoons together with such other articles as were purchased by my deceased daughter Maria…

 

And I also give and bequeath to my son Thomas’ son William Thomas One hundred dollars.  I also give and bequeath to my son James’ Son Thomas One hundred dollars.  I also give and bequeath to my son James’ Son James fifty dollars.  I also give and bequeath to my Said Son James five hundred Dollars.

 

All the rest and residue of my personal Estate not herein before given and bequeathed, after payment of my debts, Legacies and funeral expenses, I do give and bequeath unto my said Son James, and I do hereby Constitute and appoint him sole Executor of this my last will and Testament.  I witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and seal this twelfth day of July in the year one thousand eight hundred and twenty five.
