Application to the Court of Jeremiah Jr Newbery for Administration, dated September 26, 1825

To the Surrogate of the County of Washington + The Petition of Jeremiah Newberry of the Town of Greenwich
in the County of Washington & State of New York.
Respectfully Herewith ---
That your Petitioner is a son and next of kin of  Jeremiah Newberry late of the Town of Greenwich in said County deceased - That the said Jeremiah Newberry died in the town of Greenwich in said County on or about the 6th day of September AD. 1825 --- That at or immediately preceding the time of his death he was an Inhabitant of said County of Washington. That the said deceased has left no last will and testament as far as your petitioner has been able to discover or has heard that in the opinion of your petitioner it is necessary that administration of the Estate of the said deceased should be granted to some discreet Person -- And your petitioner further shows that all the Good, chattels and credits of the said deceased do not exceed in value the sum of Eighty two Dollars ---- Your Petitioner therefore prays that he Jeremiah Newberry may be appointed administrator of the Goods chattles & Credits of the said deceased and will ever pray

Administration papers of Jeremiah Newberry & Hosea Jakway, dated September 
26, 1825

Know all men by these presents, that we [Jeremiah Newberry Hosea Jakway] are held and firmly bound unto the People of the State of New York, in the sum of [One Hundred Sixty] dollars current money of the said state, to be paid to the said people.  To which payment well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves and each of us our
and each of our heirs, executors, and administrators, and every of them jointly and severally firmly by these presents----Sealed with our seals, and dated the [twenty sixth] day of [September] in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty [five].
The Condition of this obligation is such that if the above bounden [Jeremiah Newberry] administrat[or] of all and singular the goods, chattels and credits of [Jeremiah Newberry] late of the town of [Greenwich] deceased, do make or cause to be made, a true and perfect inventory of all and singular good, chattels and credits of the said deceased, which have or shall come to the hands, possession or knowledge of [Jeremiah Newberry] or into the hands or possession of any other person or persons for the said [Jeremiah Newberry] and the same so made do exhibit or cause to be exhibited into the office of the Surrogate of the county of Washington, at or before the expiration of six callendar months from the date of the above written obligation: And the same goods, chattels and credits, and all other goods, chattels and credits of the said deceased, which at any time after shall come into the hands or possession of the said [Jeremiah Newberry] or into the hands or possession of any other person or persons for the said {Jeremiah}, do well and truly administer according to law. And further, when thereunto lawfully required, do make or cause to be made a just and true account of administration; and if it shall hereafter appear that any
last will or testament was made by the said deceased, and the executor or executors therein named or any other person or persons do exhibit the same, and request to have it allowed and approved, then if the said [Jeremiah Newberry] being thereunto required, do render and deliver the letters of administration granted on the estate of 
the said deceased to the office from which they were issued, then this obligation to be void and of no effect, or else to remain in full force and virtue.
