This Indenture made
this twenty second day of April in the year
of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy six Between Edward Savage of New Perth in the County of
Charlotte (Washington) and province of New York of the first part and Peter McQueen of the County and province aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth
that the said Edward Savage of the
first part grant for and in consideration of the sum of twenty eight pounds current
money of New York to him in hand paid said by the said Peter McQueen at or before the ensealing and delivery of these presents to his
full satisfaction the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge and these and
therefrom doth freely clearly and fully acquit, exonerate and discharge the
said Peter McQueen his heirs and
assigns forever by these presents hath granted, bargained to and sold aliened
released and forever quitclaimed forever grant Peter McQueen two certain Lotts of Land lying in the Township of
New Perth (Salem) in the County of Charlotte and province of New York lying in
a Patent of Land granted to Alexander
Turner and others Lott # twenty nine
begins at a Beech tree with Stones the north East Corner of # twenty eight
and runs from thence East one hundred and sixty Rods to a Beach Staddle with
with Stones then west one hundred and sixty Rods from thence to the first
mentioned Bounds containing eighty eight acres with the usual allowance for
highways No. thirty three begins at
a beach tree the the northwest Corner of thirty two and runs north thirteen
degrees east twenty two Rods to the beach Tree thence East thirteen degree
south twenty three Rods to a beach tree thence south thirteen degrees west
twenty two Rods from thence to the first mention bounds containing three Acres
and twenty six perches. Together with all and singular the houses, outhouses,
Barns, Stables, Orchards, gardens, woods, underwoods, Trees, Timber, Feedings,
pastures, meadows, marshes, swamps, ponds, pools, inlets, runs and streams of
water profits and privileges appurtenances whatsoever To have and to hold all
and singular the abovementioned Lotts of Land and premises and every part and
parcel theseof with their and every of their appurtenances unto the said Peter McQueen his heirs and assigns
forever and that the said Peter McQueen
his heirs and assigns may from time to time and at all times forever here after quietly
and peaceably use, occupy, possess and enjoy the aforesaid Lott of Land and
premises abovementioned without any left suit, hindrance, molestation, claim or
demand from and by Edward Savage his
heirs and assigns or any of these and further the said Edward Savage his heirs and assigns with covenant promise grant and
agree to and with the said Peter McQueen
his heirs and assigns toward Grant and defend the said Lotts of Land and
Premises abovementioned against himself and the said Edward Savage his heirs,
executors, administrators and assigns forever be the said Peter McQueen his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns
paying quitrents of said land according to the restrictions and reservations of
the said Letters patent at such times and places as his majesty’s Collector
Receiver general for the time being shall appoint in Witness whereof the said Edward Savage of the first part hath
hereunto Interchangeably set his hand and seal the day and year first above
written Edward Savage (ES), Mary Savage (MS) Signed, Sealed and
delivered in presence of William Reid
and Hamilton McCollister Personally
appeared before William Duer Esq. Of
his Majesty’s Judges for the County of Charlotte William Reid and Hamilton
McCollister the substantiating witnesses to the within instrument of
writing who being duly sworn on the Holy Evangelists of Almighty God made oath
that they saw Edward Savage subscribe
and duly execute the within Instrument of writing and I having examined the
same and finding no material erasures or Interlincations do allow the same to be recorded New Perth
May 2nd, 1776 Wm Deur. I feel, I certify the aforegoing Record to be
a true Copy of the original Deed examined and compared 20th
