ALLEN-WOOD, 1779

Philip ALLEN of White Creek, County of Albany, son of Gideon ALLEN of Dartmouth, Bristol County, Province of Mass. Bay in New England and Elizabeth his wife married Rebecca WOOD, daughter of Isaac WOOD and his wife of White Creek. Philip and Rebecca for the full Accomplishing of their marriage, appeared in a publick meeting of the aforesaid People at there meeting place at White Creek on the 20th day of 10th month, 1779. And the said Philip taking the said Rebecca WOOD, to be my wife, promising through Divine Assistance to be unto her a true and loving husband until death separate us, and then Rebecca did then and there to the assembly, solemnly declare to the effect the following, Friends I desire you to be my witness that I take this my friend, Philip ALLEN, to be my husband promising through Divine Assistance to be unto him a true and loving wife until death shall separate us. LEGETT-STARBUCK

Isaac LEGETT, son of Thomas and Mary hiw wife, and Rebecca STARBUCK, daughter of Benjamin and Hephzibah his wife, declared their intentions of taking each other in marriage before several Monthly Meetings of the People called Quakers according to the good order used among them, and proceeding therein after deliberate consideration thereof (with regard unto the righteous law of God in that case) they also appearing clear of all others, and having consent of parents and others concerned were allowed by the meeting of Saratoga (Easton) in the county of Albany, the province of New York.
